Project Introduction
Building Bridges:
The Creative Canal project is an exciting and innovative initiative, providing hands on opportunities for young people to be involved in canal heritage. The project is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery fund and is being delivered by The Waterways Trust, Fairbridge North Manchester and British Waterways.
Following a number of heritage research days including a trip to the Rochdale Canal and visit to The National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, the participants are working with artists Paul Pickford and Brian Raymond through a series of workshops to produce heritage themed designs for a final piece of artwork to be installed on the Rochdale Canal in Littleborough.
The art work and wider project will be used to enhance and build awareness of the Canal as a valuable piece of local heritage, improve the appearance of the canal and support greater young person involvement in our waterways.
Please follow this Blog to keep up to date with how the project is progressing.
